Surgical Management of Skin Cancers

Surgical Management of Skin Cancers

Skin cancer is the most common form of malignancy worldwide. Despite its high incidence, it is also one of the most treatable cancers—provided that early diagnosis and proper surgical management are ensured. Modern plastic surgery today allows not only the radical removal of malignant lesions, but also excellent functional and aesthetic restoration of the skin.

The goal of treatment is not simply the removal of the lesion, but holistic patient care: eradication of the disease, preservation of natural appearance, and protection of quality of life.

My Experience

I specialized in the surgical management of skin cancers under the guidance of the internationally recognized and multi-awarded Professor of Plastic Surgery, Pr Benoit Lengelé, in Brussels—the surgeon who performed the world’s first face transplant.

My training in this particularly demanding field laid the foundation for developing an approach that combines absolute oncologic safety with high-level reconstructive techniques. This philosophy guides every stage of the therapeutic process—from diagnosis to final reconstruction.

In Detail – The Protocol We Apply

At Dr. Athens, a comprehensive and technologically advanced protocol is implemented for the screening, diagnosis, and surgical management of skin lesions:

Advanced digital mole mapping with FotoFinder
In less than three minutes, complete digital mapping of all moles on the body is performed. The system allows automatic comparison of images with previous examinations, enabling precise detection of any new lesion or changes in an existing mole.

Artificial intelligence analysis and collaboration with specialized dermatologists
FotoFinder technology incorporates high-accuracy artificial intelligence algorithms. Each suspicious mole is evaluated both by the system and by experienced dermatologists, ensuring the highest possible diagnostic reliability.

Targeted surgical excision and reconstruction
When deemed necessary, the lesion is surgically removed with microsurgical precision and respect for healthy tissues. The reconstructive techniques applied aim to minimize scarring and preserve the natural texture and form of the skin.

Clinical Experience and Outcomes

I apply this specific therapeutic model with excellent results at the Maison Abeille medical center in Paris, where over a two-year period more than 400 cases of skin cancer were diagnosed and treated.

This experience confirms that the combination of specialized surgical expertise, advanced technology, and personalized care represents the most effective approach for early diagnosis and successful treatment of cutaneous malignancies.
