Lymphedema and lipedema are chronic conditions that significantly affect functionality, body image, and quality of life.

<\/span>Despite their frequency, they remain largely underdiagnosed and are often confused with other conditions, leading to delayed or inadequate treatment.

<\/span>Modern plastic and reconstructive surgery now offers specialized tools for the comprehensive management of lymphatic and adipose system disorders, combining accurate diagnosis, conservative approaches, and advanced surgical techniques.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

My Experience<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

My involvement in lymphedema represents a central pillar of my clinical and academic activity. My doctoral research focuses on the surgical reconstruction of lymphedema, a condition of particular complexity and significant functional impact.\u00a0

<\/span>Since 2019, I have worked systematically at Rennes University Hospital (France). During this period, I managed a large number of cases, applying high-precision techniques that require in-depth knowledge of lymphatic anatomy and specialized microsurgical expertise.\u00a0

<\/span>My mentor is the Korean surgeon JP Hong, a pioneer of supermicrosurgery, trained by Isao Koshima and internationally recognized in the field of surgical lymphedema reconstruction.

<\/span>This clinical experience is accompanied by active scientific engagement and contribution to the international literature, reinforcing the continuous development and evidence-based validation of the therapeutic protocols applied.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The management of lymphedema and lipedema at Dr. Athens is based on individualized planning, tailored to the stage of the disease and the specific needs of each patient.<\/span><\/p>

Accurate diagnosis and staging<\/b>
<\/span>Correct diagnosis is the foundation of treatment. Clinical presentation, medical history, and anatomical characteristics are carefully evaluated in order to determine the most appropriate therapeutic plan.<\/span><\/p>

Conservative management and guidance<\/b>
<\/span>In selected cases, specialized conservative methods are implemented in collaboration with appropriate healthcare professionals, aiming at stabilization and improvement of daily functionality.<\/span><\/p>

Surgical reconstruction with supermicrosurgical techniques<\/b>
<\/span>When indicated, modern surgical techniques are applied, such as:<\/span><\/p>

  • lymphovenous anastomoses (LVA),<\/span><\/li>
  • lymph node transfer,<\/span><\/li>
  • lymph-sparing liposuction.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>
